Great quotes thank you. I like reading these quotes because it reinforces my confidence that I have justifiably forsaken a blasphemous, arrogant, bunch of power-hungry control freaking masters of your faith.

Has anyone noticed the "Message of Doom" in the 7/15/08 WT?
by logic&reason inin paragraph 16 of the first study artice.
.
they are being very vague, but it is obvious that they are trying to stir up speculation/excitement.. the entire magazine appears to be about the house to house ministry.

I read it. It's just the same old stuff they've been saying since 1879. Woopdedoo.

As predicted, no loosening of the reins . . .
by AuldSoul inwell, the new governing body is circling the doctrinal wagons and funneling information through fewer and fewer access points.
there is no loosening of the reins.
i believe those who are awaiting mainstreaming from the organization are waiting in vain.

I heard a rumour they were going to remove the position of PO, not CO.
CO's are an important and powerful control mechanism of the Society to keep bodies of elders in line. They have the power to have (apostate) elders remove and to even recommend that a whole body of elders be removed, if needed. The local Branch needs someone to go around periodically and keep elders in line. Taking that centralised control away seems counter-intuitive to the idea that the Society want to exert more control, not less. Removing CO's would be a decentralisation of control and power to more local Watchtower representatives of a type - a risky ploy if you want to eliminate potential for local dissension and apostasy.

Reduction in Pio Hours & New Message?
by conoroberst inhello all,.
i have heard over the last couple of weeks , from 2 different sources that the pioneer hours are to be reduced to 60, this has come from uk bethel sources, but not seen anything posted here about that here... also that the new wt for the witnesses contans an article that gives 3 new points of 'revised light'... any ideas what these are about?.
i have also had lots of fun recently, questioning people on what the scripture mean whan it says .. do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together, even more so as you behold gods day drawing near... in view of the recent book study stuff....

Yeah 60 hours a month is enough time wandering aimlessly around the suburbs filling in not-at-home slips while everyone else is making an honest living.

Who owns the large amount of w.t.s. real estate?
by jwblog inare they the relatives of the former founders of the w.t.s.
?

You're wrong Blondie. It's owned by Jehovah. And it's not actually 'real estate' now - it's 'holy property'. It has turned into a holy, sacred thing just like your contributions turn into as soon as you drop them into the contribution box at the kingdom hall. Sheesh, it's like asking "who owned the temple and ark of the covenant?" in ancient Israel's time.

Gay Marriage - The War for Equality
by Inquisitor ini've just read lola28's thread "for those against gay marriage".
i thought i should present a clear message on what i think the gay marriage issue is all about.
the trouble with most discussions on this issue is that it gets clouded by a plethora of side-issues, non-issues, cave-men chest-thumping and medieval puritanism.

Your comparison about denying marriage rights to a person of a different race is a completely false analogy, but I'm not going to waste my time explaining why.

What about those INTELLIGENT JW's? Did you have any in your cong'?
by nicolaou ini remember as a child being impressed by several older 'brothers' who were well educated and articulate.
we had guys with degrees and one had a ph.d in some branch of physics - a professor.
now you know as well as i do that that level of education was, and still is, mightily discouraged by the wt but these guys had managed it somehow.. as an impressionable kid it put 'the truth' on a more secure footing for me, after all if these intelligent men could believe .

Yep, lots. But they were all brainwashed and afraid to question.

They mainly knock on empty houses and fill in not-at-home slips. Hey, those are important slips, so someone's got to fill them in!

How do the elders know if you are truly repentent?
by jetery inthe reason why i ask is because whenever u are df and u are trying to get reinstated they are always tellling u that u have to produce fruits befitting repentenace like attending the meetings, etc.
they always make it seem that since they are gods spirit-directed org.
that he will know whether or not if a person is repentent.

By how much you line up with the guidelines given by the Watchtower Corporation for determing how repentant you are. That's all.
